On behalf of the OACD Board of Directors, our association staff, and myself,
welcome to the 88th gathering of Oklahoma conservationists. We are sincerely grateful you are here.
As I close out my first year serving as President, it’s hard to believe it has already
been a full year since we gathered in Norman and I accepted the gavel. While the
dates are new, the location is new, and portions of the programming reflect fresh
energy and perspective, you can expect the same premium, credible, and practical
programming OACD is known for during this meeting.

During our OACD board strategic planning session last November, we were reminded that “longevity does not equate relevancy." Conservation is not static. Land stewardship is not passive.

There is always more work to be done. This meeting reflects that commitment, honoring Oklahoma excellence past and present, strengthening relationships that sustain our work, and equipping us for what lies ahead. We also extend our sincere appreciation to the partners, sponsors, and vendors who have invested in this gathering. Your commitment to
Oklahoma conservation and to the people who steward our land makes this event possible. You are not simply exhibitors or sponsors, you are collaborators in ensuring conservation districts remain the most trusted voice in their communities. We encourage attendees to
engage with these partners throughout the meeting, as their support and expertise strengthen the work we do across the state.

Over the course of this gathering, we will reminisce with longtime friends, build relationships with new ones, and honor those who helped shape the path before us. Our legacy belongs not only to our ancestors, districts, and communities, but also to one another. This years
agenda is full of engaging sessions aimed at creating intentional dialogue.
This year’s theme, Homecoming: One Land, One Legacy, reflects our shared responsibility to ensure the next nine decades of conservation in Oklahoma are as strong as the first. Where tradition guides us and the land brings us home, is more than a tagline, it is a
reminder that our roots in local leadership, practical stewardship, and grassroots solutions remain our greatest strength. Thank you for recognizing this meeting as an investment, in yourself, in your district, and in the future of this association.

Finally, I would like to thank my wife, Bettisu, for her steadfast support throughout this year of meetings, travel, and leadership. Public service in conservation is a family commitment, and I am grateful for hers.

It is an honor to serve as your OACD President.

Thank you,

Ed Casey, OACD President
