Conservation Districts
Conservation districts in Oklahoma, established under the 1937 Conservation District Act, support the sustainable management of natural resources like soil and water, with oversight from the Oklahoma Conservation Commission. These districts assist farmers, ranchers, planners, developers, and citizens with conservation practices, provide educational programs, and lease equipment to landowners. Organized across the state—typically by county—each district is guided by a five-member board, with three directors elected locally and two appointed by the Commission. Conservation districts play a vital role in preserving Oklahoma’s natural resources for future generations.
