As you know, Conservation in Oklahoma is scheduled to receive several million dollars in stimulus funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (the Federal Stimulus Plan).  As of this writing, The Conservation Partnership has received confirmation that we will be receiving the following funds:

–$14 million for watershed rehab

–$1.77 million for watershed operations

–$2 million for stream bank stabilization (water quality work)

–$1 million for the Stamper poultry litter project in N.E. Oklahoma

–$308,000 for the Oklahoma Carbon Initiative at OACD

These funds not only represent a huge investment by the Federal Government in Conservation work, they also provide us with an opportunity to fill the budget holes created by the recent cut in state funds.  Through agreements with NRCS, contracts for delivery of services and matching dollars, these funds will go to the Conservation Commission and ensure that our delivery system stays strong and that we can keep providing the assistance Oklahoma landowners need to protect and conserve our soil, water, air and wildlife habitats.

We are very appreciative of the support the Obama Administration showed in including conservation work in the stimulus plan, and we want to stay a special thank you to Congressman Dan Boren for supporting the stimulus package!!!!

We expect more announcements in the next few days on even more stimulus funding coming to Oklahoma Conservation, so stay tuned!!!  We anticipate even more good news in the future!!
